Privacy & how it works
What happens to your PDF
When you upload a PDF, it stays in your browser. We render each page as an image and send those images to Google's Gemini API to identify where one document ends and the next begins. The splitting itself happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib.
What we store
Nothing on our end.We don't store your PDF, the rendered images, or the split files. There are no user accounts, no databases, and no file storage. Once you close the tab, everything on our side is gone. Google's Gemini API holds the page images briefly for abuse monitoring per their API terms, then deletes them. They are never used for training.
Third-party services
- Google Gemini API— receives page images for document boundary detection. Google's API terms apply. Images sent via the API are not used to train models. Google may retain API requests briefly for abuse monitoring, then deletes them.
- PostHog— anonymous usage analytics (page views, button clicks, error counts). No personal data is collected. You can block this with any ad blocker.
- Vercel— hosts the application. Standard server logs (IP, user agent) are retained per Vercel's privacy policy.
Cookies
- Analytics cookie(PostHog) — helps us understand how people use the tool. You can block this with any ad blocker.
- Usage cookie— tracks how many PDFs you've processed today to prevent abuse (limit: 20 per day). Contains only a count and date — no personal information.
